US President Donald Trump this week unveiled a series of ambitious but vague plans to kick-start a “new era of American energy dominance” by expanding exports of fossil fuels and achieving energy independence.

Addressing a crowd at the ‘Unleashing American Energy Event’ in Washington DC on Tuesday, Trump presented a six-point agenda that offered some – but not much – detail on how his administration would achieve its oft-repeated goal of reinvigorating the US coal industry while driving growth in upstream oil and gas, nuclear and renewables.
