This week saw both the US and UK complete offshore oil and gas licensing rounds, with the Americans leading the charge by attracting USD 275 million in high bids in the Gulf of Mexico.
Lease Sale 247 resulted in 28 companies submitting 189 bids for 163 offshore tracts, the US Department of the Interior said. More than 48 million acres were offered in areas offshore Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
