America first: How President Trump could impact US LNG

The inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States took place on 20 January. He brings with him a style of leadership as unique as it is divisive, as well as a completely different world view from his predecessor — including on energy. In recent months, Trump pledged to support both the gas and coal industries in the US, which some commentators say is as conflicting as the man himself. Others claim he is the right president at the right time for US energy. Trump’s biography on the Trump Organization’s website describes him as “the very definition of the American success story, continually setting the standards of excellence in business, real estate and entertainment.” With Trump now in the Oval Office, the question is: will he help turn the nascent US LNG industry into a success story, too?
