Britain will have a 5.1% buffer between peak electricity demand and the capacity available to meet it, according to its gas and electricity grid operator National Grid’s Winter Outlook visual_editor015-16, published on Thursday. Peak demand is expected to be 54.visual_editor GW, slightly higher than the previous winter’s 53.visual_editor GW. In July, National Grid reported that the country’s capacity margin had dwindled to just 1.visual_editor% – the worst for a decade.
