Brazilian lawmakers are to debate a bill this week that would allow companies other than Petrobras to own and operate gas and oil projects in the prized subsalt region, according to reports.
A committee from Brazil's lower house, the Congress, and the upper house, the Senate, have already approved the bill, which is next scheduled for debate by the full lower house this week, news sources said.
