The European Commission (EC) this week offered a first glimpse at its post-2020 environmental policy by proposing a first set of mandatory greenhouse gas emissions limits for sectors other than power and industry in 2021-2030.
In its weekly meeting, the EC presented a plan to cut CO2 emissions from sectors not covered by the Emissions Trading System (ETS) – transport, buildings, agriculture, waste, land-use and forestry – by 30% on 2005 levels.
