Nigerian onshore and shallow water oil and gas production is 70% locked in due to sabotage, which has contributed to the government resuming payments to former militants under a 2009 deal, local media sources reported this week.
Attacks on oil and gas infrastructure in the Niger Delta has increased since the start of the year. Militant group Niger Delta Avengers has claimed responsibility for much of the activity.
