Canada’s National Energy Board (NEB) has granted conditional approval for North America-focused infrastructure firm TransCanada to build a new 11.7 km stretch of gas pipeline in the city of Vaughan in the central province of Ontario.
But the board has imposed 19 conditions, including First Nations groups being allowed to monitor construction and participate in assessing any archaeological finds. TransCanada must also adhere to a series of environmental and water-coursing standards.
