Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have signed a non-binding agreement to jointly search for and develop oil and gas resources in the largely unexplored Lake Tanganyika, according to reports this week.
“We have signed a memorandum of understanding to exchange experiences in exploration and exploitation of petroleum in Lake Tanganyika,” DRC president Joseph Kabila was quoted as saying following talks with Tanzanian counterpart President John Magufuli.
