The World Bank has granted a USD 500 million loan to Ukraine to fund winter gas supplies. State-owned gas company Naftogaz has also reportedly considered buying gas from Gazprom in the event of a supply shortfall.
“The guarantee the Bank’s board approved today will help secure adequate gas supplies for the coming two years. It would also help improve the financing and contract terms for such gas purchases, which will ultimately benefit households,” said Satu Kahkonen, World Bank country director for Ukraine.
