Finland and Estonia have signed an agreement to construct the bi-directional 2.6 Bcm/year Balticconnector, a pipeline expected to end Finland’s reliance on direct imports from Russia.
The construction agreement was signed last week by the prime ministers of both nations, with the project having been awarded a construction grant of EUR 187 million by the European Commission (EC), amounting to 75% of estimated construction costs.
