Japan’s second-largest LNG buyer Tokyo Gas has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to swap supply from the Cove Point LNG project on the central-east coast of the US for cargoes sourced by UK utility Centrica from the Asia-Pacific region.
Tokyo Gas has a 1.4 mtpa sales and purchase agreement with Cove Point, which is currently being converted to liquefy and export gas, rather than import, and is scheduled to come online in late 2017.
