Ukraine should slash fees for Russian transits or risk losing out to Nord Stream 2 and other alternative supply routes competing to send gas to Europe, the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES) said in a report this week.
“To maintain the remaining flow of both revenues and profits of Russian gas transiting to Europe, Ukraine should therefore shift its transit negotiation strategy away from policy and towards commercial reality… by reducing the price of its own transit,” the body said.
