China needs to resolve infrastructure bottlenecks and loosen state monopolies before it can import and consume more gas, SIA Energy CEO Li Yao told the CWC World LNG Summit in Barcelona on Wednesday.
The country’s economic slowdown, which lowered gas demand from heavy industries, as well as persistent bottlenecks have played major roles in limiting demand growth, she added.
