The government of British Columbia and partners of the proposed Pacific Northwest LNG plant have penned benefit agreements with two major First Nations groups in an attempt break the logjam holding back LNG exports from the western Canadian province.
A three-pronged benefits agreement – including the transfer of crown land, one-off capital payments and future payments from LNG exports and from the feed-gas pipeline – was sealed with the Lax Kw’alaams and Metlakatla First Nations groups.
