The east coast of Australia could see a shortfall in gas-powered electricity generation as soon as the summer (December-February) of 2018-2019, the Australian Energy Market Operator said Thursday.
Additional production must come online to meet demand in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia as producers have forecast annual production to drop from 600 PJ in 2017 to 478 PJ in 2021, AEMO said.
