Shell has faced staunch media criticism this month after confirming senior executives were aware that cash used to buy a vast Nigerian deepwater oil block would be passed on to a convicted money launderer.
The major has maintained its innocence, despite admitting it knew that payments to the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) for the disputed OPL 245 offshore acreage would be used to compensate former oil minister Dan Etete.
