An increase in toll costs for LNG and LPG carriers transiting the Panama Canal could drive more US Gulf of Mexico exports towards Europe rather than Asia, experts have warned.
The move by the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) to hike fees by around USD 0.02/MMBtu for a round trip will add USD 100,000 to the fee payable by a 170,000 cm LNG carrier.
