Centrica offloads last big CCGTs to refocus on smaller peaking gas plants

Centrica has agreed to sell two UK combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power stations totalling 2.3 GW of capacity to Czech outfit EPH, Europe’s seventh largest power generator, for GBP 318 million (USD 402 million).
Langage and South Humber Bank are believed to be Centrica’s last two remaining large scale power plants. Their sale is part of the utility’s drive to shift away from centralised power generation and instead refocus on opportunities in flexible peaking units, energy storage and distributed generation.
