A shipment of US LNG is due to reach South Korea this week, marking the start of flows from US producer Cheniere Energy to Kogas under a 20-year supply agreement.
Until now, South Korea – the world’s second biggest LNG importer after Japan – has relied mostly on Qatar and on Asia Pacific suppliers such as Indonesia, Malaysia and, more recently, Australia for its LNG supplies.
