In recent years, economic conditions have emerged that have shaken confidence in investing in new global-scale LNG projects, while a fair number of proven developed fields without a grid connection are threatened to become stranded assets.
Against this background, companies such a Dresser-Rand, Linde Engineering, GE Oil & Gas and Wartsila are seeking to make big business out of mini liquefaction, which may produce very small volumes, but is far cheaper in absolute terms than its bigger liquefaction cousins.
