India’s GAIL has restarted construction work on its Kochi-Koottanad-Mangaluru-Bengaluru gas pipeline, which has been stalled due to land disputes. A resolution to the impasse paves the way for completion in 2018 – five years later than first planned.
Construction work has resumed after GAIL awarded contracts to build a 111-km stretch of pipeline in Kerala, and the Kochi-Koottanad (in Kerala) to Mangaluru (in Karnataka) sections, costing a combined USD 538 million.
