The US state-funded Energy Information Administration has revised down its forward forecast for Henry Hub prices, but not by enough to allow natural gas to reclaim the top spot in the country’s power mix that it had in 2016.
According to the EIA’s latest monthly Short Term Energy Outlook (STEO) – a summary of predictions about domestic energy out to the end of 2018 – the prospect of a better-connected gas grid along with lower demand have dampened forecasted prices on the southern hub.
