The past few weeks have seen a slew of announcements paving the way for a phase-out of petrol and diesel cars. This momentum is apparently driven by the increasing advances being made in electric-powered cars – of which there are now some 2 million worldwide, a growth of around 60% in 2016. Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs) did not get much of a mention in these announcements, even though the number of NGVs in the world is more than ten times the number of electric vehicles, and is also growing quickly. Gas Matters asks whether the NGV can ever overshadow its more glamourous cousin.
