Germany is becoming increasingly exposed to volatile global spot markets and Asian competition as LNG replaces Russian pipeline volumes in its natural gas mix. At first glance, the gas supply situation in Germany looks comfortable with storage facilities almost full, demand at historical lows and floating LNG import terminals being commissioned without major setbacks or delays.
