RWE in preliminary talks with Gazprom over participation in the South Stream project
Russia's Gazprom and RWE have entered into preliminary discussions over the possibility of the German utility entering the South Stream pipeline project, sources at the Russian major reportedly said on Monday. RWE, a 16.7% shareholder in the Nabucco consortium which is proposing a rival pipeline project to bring Caspian gas to southern Europe, confirmed it had met with Gazprom, but said that Nabucco was still “the best project” for the company at the moment.
