Iraqi gas field auction date under review

Iraqi oil minister Hussein al-Shahristani told reporters on Sunday that an auction of three gas fields slated for September 1 may be delayed as the ministry has not yet decided on contract terms. The ministry will announce the timing of the rescheduled auction in due course. The gas auctions may add impetus to Iraq’s aspirations to export gas to Europe. "We are studying with the EU a deal to provide EU markets with Iraqi gas as well as Asian markets," Shahristani said.
