NRG signs two deals to acquire 5000MW of gas-fired capacity in the US

New Jersey-based NRG Energy has signed a $1.36 billion deal to buy 3,884 MW of power generation assets in California and Maine, including 3,719 MW of gas-fired power capacity, from Dynegy, recently bought-out by private equity giant The Blackstone Group. In a separate transaction NRG has agreed to purchase the 1,279 MW gas-fired Cottonwood power plant in east Texas from Kelson Limited Partnership for $525 million.
