Interview: Sergei Komlev, Gazprom - Head of Contract Structuring and Price Formation

Gearing up to regain market share as European gas demand slowly recovers, Gazprom is eager to strengthen relations with its traditional European gas customers. In recognition of the serious problems some of its major European customers face due to the recession-induced drop in gas consumption, Gazprom Export backed away from its previous adamant stance that take or pay (ToP) contracts must be honoured- and renegotiated individual agreements with customers that needed the flexibility in fulfilling their contract obligations.“We have reached a deal with all our main European gas customers, including E.ON Ruhrgas, but we have not made a general revision of basic contract principals”, Sergei Komlev, Head of Contract Structuring and Price Formation at Gazprom Export told Gas Matters.
