LNG Supply and Demand in 2009 – The scene is set for fast growth in 2010

The eighteen months from the beginning of 2008 to the middle of 2009 saw LNG production stagnate and then begin to fall as technical and gas supply problems hit output from operating plants and there were delays to the start up of new liquefaction trains. But 2009 ended on a high note with exports in December nearly 3 mt higher than 12 months earlier, an increase on an annualised basis of almost 36 mtpa, setting the scene for what should be a record expansion of LNG activity in 2010
