LNG demand in Asia – is there a market for all the planned projects?
A key challenge for any LNG project is securing long-term buyers to underpin the investment in the facilities which these days typically amounts to many billions of dollars. Few new projects make a Final Investment Decision (FID) without buyers lined-up for a major share of the planned output, especially in the Pacific Basin which lacks the close access to the flexible gas markets of the USA and North West Europe that Atlantic Basin projects enjoy.
