Oz gears up to be LNG wizard: Part 2 – Queensland
The pace of development of the coal bed methane to LNG industry in Australia’s Queensland state has been staggering since the first project was mooted in 2006. Major international oil and gas companies BG Group, ConocoPhillips and Shell, as well as Malaysia’s national oil company Petronas, have jostled for position alongside Australian players holding vast reserves. The result is five planned projects, four of which plan to take a final investment decision (FID) this year, though the prospects for one of those looks bleak.
