Qatar’s debottlenecking could add 12 mtpa – equal to another mega-train-and-a-half
It has been the expectation of the industry for some time that debottlenecking the Qatari mega-trains would be a source of additional LNG supply post-2013. The latest news is that each of the six new mega-trains could yield an extra 2 mtpa, a total of 12 mtpa. This would be equivalent to a project with four-fifths of Gorgon’s capacity that could be brought on stream at relatively low cost and “at very short notice”. LNG Business Review looks at the numbers.
