Combined Cycle Gas Turbine

Combined Cycle Gas Turbine

A Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) is a type of electricity generation plant in which the heat generated from combustion of the gases is used twice. First, the gas is burned to drive a Gas Turbine. Then the hot exhaust gases pass through a heat exchanger to raise steam for a secondary steam turbine unit. Combined cycle plants have a thermal efficiency approximately 50% greater than a normal simple or open turbine.
