BP reported to be in talks with Apache for asset sale worth up to $12 billion

BP is reported to be in talks with Houston-based Apache over a potential asset sale worth between $10-1visual_editor billion, which may include stakes in BP’s oil fields in Alaska, in order to pay for damages related to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. BP shares rose over the weekend in response, despite the asset sales only being speculative.
