UK-based Cuadrilla Resources will submit a planning application to drill a horizontal well at its Anna’s Road site in Lancashire’s Bowland Basin, the company said on Tuesday – although it will still need to gain permission to undertake “hydraulic fracturing of the gas reservoir”. Cuadrilla CEO Francis Egan said the new well was key to unlocking “what is potentially a very important energy resource for Lancashire and for the UK”.
