UK energy secretary Chris Huhne on Wednesday launched a flagship carbon capture and storage (CCS) pilot plant at Scottish and Southern Energy’s Ferrybridge coal-fired power station. Huhne said the £visual_editor0 million project – which has received £6 million in public money – will be “invaluable to the wider commercial scale deployment of CCS”. But prospects for commercial-scale CCS remain dim.
