Inpex opens tender for onshore construction of Ichthys LNG project

The Japanese oil and gas explorer Inpex has invited bids for the major onshore construction packages for its $20 billion Australian Ichthys LNG project. Inpex’s Australia president director Seiya Ito said the tender is “another important milestone for the project as we move toward a final investment decision in the fourth quarter 2011.” Inpex is still waiting for environmental and other relevant regulatory approvals from the Australian and Northern Territory governments before it can proceed with construction of the project.
