Oman is planning to explore for shale gas in concession areas belonging to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). Studies are now taking place to check the commercial viability of the shale gas fields, according to the Times of Oman, which quoted Ministry of Oil and Gas advisor Khalifa Mubarak Al Hinai. Khalifa also said the Oman government was looking to discuss possible natural gas imports from Iran.
