PetroChina has completed drilling its first horizontal shale gas well at the Wei 201-H1 permit in the Sichuan Basin, according to reports in China National Petroleum Corporation’s (CNPC) online newsletter on Thursday. China is hoping to meet 10% of its gas demand with unconventional gas by 2020, or 30 Bcm out of a demand projection of 300 Bcm/year.
