Total chief executive Christophe de Margerie has welcomed moves from the Russian government to give the country’s Shtokman gas and LNG pipeline project a tax framework that will facilitate the investment. Speaking on Wednesday at the World Petroleum Congress in Doha, Qatar, de Margerie said this kept the project on track to reach final investment decision (FID) before the end of the year.
