The Dutch energy market is facing a radical change. Amid concerns around the damage caused by increasing seismic activity, the Netherlands has chosen to phase out its giant Groningen gas field by 2030. Production at the field is already ramping down, pushing the Netherlands, once net exporter of natural gas, to look for additional imports to replace Groningen volumes as well as implementing a series of other mitigation measures.
