Norsk Hydro today said it was unhappy at being restricted to bid – along with unspecified foreign companies – for only 5% of the state's direct financial interests (SDFI) in offshore oil and gas assets when the partial sell-off takes place later this year. The fact that main rival Statoil has been selected to bid alone for 15% of the SDFI has particularly annoyed Norsk Hydro. Lars Bjerke, president of exploration and production in Norway, used the platform of Norsk Hydro's preliminary financial results to say that such disparity was "bad for competition in Norway".
