Japan has allocated $15 million to construct a gas-turbine plant in the West Kazakhstan region, according to local press reports. The reports come just days after Japan announced that it is sending a delegation to Central Asia in a bid to diversify its energy supplies away from Middle Eastern producers (Gas Matters Today, June visual_editor8). The Japanese delegation plans to visit Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan and will discuss commercial opportunities for Japanese energy companies.
