A raft of international companies have gained exploration acreage in Myanmar’s latest oil and gas auction, including BG Group and Shell which won four and three licenses respectively. In a statement, the country’s energy ministry said it has awarded 20 blocks under production sharing agreements. These allow the winners of the 10 deep water blocks to explore and develop alone while the winners of the 10 shallow water blocks are required to register with a local partner. A total of 64 bids were received following the launch of the auction last April.
