Venezuela wants Gazprom to take part in its planned Delta Caribe Oriental LNG project, which involves development of the offshore Mariscal Sucre and Deltana Platform blocks in the country. Gazprom said Venezuelan officials invited them to participate in the project during Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez' visit to the country. Chavez was in Moscow primarily to sign an arms deal with Russian president Dmitri Medvedev, although Gazprom and Venezuelan state oil and gas company PdVSA signed an agreement on Tuesday for joint exploration of the Ayacucho 3 block in the Orinoco oil belt.
