The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has warned that proposed changes to the country's planning system could lead to further delays to energy projects. Under the current system CBI has identified 37 power plant projects - including 10 gas-fired plants - which are still awaiting government approval. The projects would have a combined generation capacity of 17.5 gigawatts, around a fifth of the UK’s current electricity generation capacity.
