Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan today presents a roadmap for reforms to the Nigerian power sector, which is hoped to encourage private sector investment in the country’s power industry in order to curb the severe electricity shortage. Jonathan has already announced plans for a $3.5 billion national electricity “super-grid” – to be jointly financed by the private sector and development agencies – which should boost Nigeria's generating capacity to over 14,000 MW by the end of 2013.
