After 40 years of US LNG exports from Alaska, the momentum is growing behind would-be exporters in the lower-48 United States. The US LNG industry is anxious to turn things around. After the LNG import fiasco of the previous decade, which saw business plans go up in smoke as the shale gas revolution turned US supply and demand dynamics upside down, LNG is yet again on the map in the US, only this time the focus is on exports. But despite attractive economics, the path to US LNG exports is not a smooth one, particularly in light of a new Energy Information Agency (EIA) report into the cost implications for the consumer, as LNG Business Review finds out.
