Ukraine's state energy company Naftogaz confirmed on Tuesday, following a Stockholm Arbitration Court ruling, that it will return 12.1 Bcm of gas to RosUkrEnergo (RUE), a company owned by Gazprom and Ukrainian magnate Dmytro Firtash. RUE will pay $1.7 billion of a debt owed to Naftogaz and $810 million to Gazprom, both arising from an agreement made in 2009. The deal ends a long-running gas row that had threatened Russian gas supplies to Europe transiting Ukraine.
